DURAIS - A Platform for Co-Designing and Understanding the Roles of Conversational Artificial Intelligence Systems on Caregiving
DURAIS - A Platform for Co-Designing and Understanding the Roles of Conversational Artificial Intelligence Systems on Caregiving Designing and evaluating the role of large language models (LLMs) on supporting caregiving

5-year NSF funded research on conducting formative studies, participatory design, and LLM experiments to co-design novel language technologies to support caregiving.

PISCES - Supporting Caregivers Through Problem Solving Therapy Using AI-Enhanced Feedback System
PISCES - Supporting Caregivers Through Problem Solving Therapy Using AI-Enhanced Feedback System Examining the potential of LLMs in annotating, detecting linguistic patterns, and recommending conversational strategies.

We are developing LLM-enhanced language technologies to support problem solving therapy for caregivers of older adults living in senior living facilities. This project is in collaboration with George Demiris (UPenn), Karla Washington (Wash U St Louis), and Shadi Rezapur (Drexel University).

Youth Village - Supporting Youth Mental Health Through a Novel Design Framework on Centering Social Connectedness.
Youth Village - Supporting Youth Mental Health Through a Novel Design Framework on Centering Social Connectedness. Building a design framework centering social connectedness

We highlight how in-person social connectedness should play a central role in designing social technologies. We devise methods, tools, and paradigms that helps HCI researchers and practitioners to foster social connectedness in their technology design. This project is in collaboration with Gabi Marcu (University of Michigan).

Using AI to help help-givers--supporting youth's peer support during crisis moments
Using AI to help help-givers--supporting youth's peer support during crisis moments Understanding how youth communicate through online privately and publicly and building novel AI solutions to support peer helpers

We are analyzing donated private-social media messages among youth and large scale surveys on perceptions toward how AI can help give support to help-givers. This project is in collaboration with Afsaneh Razi (Drexel University).
